Happy New Year!

After presenting an annual show, without fail, for half a century, the Troupe des Anciens was forced to disappoint you — our loyal public — and cancel the performances of Tartuffe that had been scheduled for April 2020. However, we have not given up on theatre, and hope to be able to invite you to our next show in the not too distant future.

We greatly appreciate your loyalty as, without your support, there would be no Troupe des Anciens. We wish you and yours a Happy New Year, one in which the virus that is affecting us all is no more than a distant memory.

Tarfuffe performances postponed until 2021

March 16, 2020

To our valued audience,

La Troupe des Anciens has succeeded in overcoming many seemingly insurmountable difficulties since its inception in 1969, but it is now facing an invincible adversary in COVID-19.

It is with deep regret that after spending many weeks on preparing for the performance of Tartuffe, we have had to postpone it to 2021. We promise you a production that will make the waiting worthwhile.

Those who have already bought tickets will of course be fully refunded.

All members of the Troupe are most grateful for your support throughout the years.

La Troupe des Anciens de l’Université de Toronto is pleased to announce it has selected The Miser (L’Avare), a five-act comedy in prose by Molière, as the play for the 50th anniversary of its annual show in French to be performed in April 2019. Artistic Director of La Troupe des Anciens Paulette Collet said: “Working together with our various stakeholders, especially our loyal secondary education public, we chose The Miser for its timeless story of family, marriage and all-consuming avarice.” For more information about the school matinée and evening performances, see our website or follow us on social media.
